To celebrate International Day of Light 2023, Ludmila Leroy, postdoc at PSI is taking you inside the Swiss Light Source (SLS).
With an energy of 2.4 GeV, the SLS provides photon beams of high brightness for research in materials science, biology and chemistry. Ludmila, is studying the properties of magnetic materials.
She highlights the versatility of light sources as hugely advantageous to science and learning from, and about, nature.
“We are all driven by curiosity and these versatile facilities gives us the ability to try different approaches and push the boundaries in our experiments.”
This video is part of the #LightSourceSelfies by Lightsources.org.
►About International Day of Light
The International Day of Light, an initiative by UNESCO, emphasizes the importance of light in science and its contributions across diverse sectors worldwide towards UNESCO's goals of education, equality, and peace.
►About Lightsource.org
Lightsources.org is the result of a collaboration between communicators from light source facilities around the world. This platform groups 23 synchrotrons and 7 FEL facilities representing 24 organisations from 3 geographic zones: Europe / the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia / Australia.
